So here I am on day three of Babel, and it’s driving me crazy. Sometimes making art seems to flow easily, just pouring out of my fingers while my brain plays catch up. I’ve been struggling with this one, though. The lower half of the figure has been redone several times, and the harlequin pattern on the tower was sacrificed. I always use layers of slip while I’m working; it helps me to sort out the figure and see where it’s going. There will be gold luster used in all of this new work- it will be dripping from the fingers on Babel.
In the middle of the frustration, I did this wall pair for an upcoming show at Hall Barnett Gallery in New Orleans. We have a fantastic show with gallery artists opening on October 8. I LOVE being a part of this amazing gallery.
