Friday, July 28: 6:00-9:00 opening reception of 100 masks and faces at Smith and Lens Gallery in cool little Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. I actually did make 100 or more of these masks and faces from primitive molds taken from my larger sculptures. Each is altered and amended and loved on excessively, and no two are alike. It’s fun to arrange them in little groupings and have them chit chat. Not all of the 100 have made it to Smith and Lens, as some are awaiting alternate firings, but 72 are there thus far! If you happen to attend my show and don’t see the face aligned with your special number, just let me know. 🙂 I have been really thrilled to work with this gallery and its owners and so applaud all they have contributed to the blossoming Bay St. Louis community. I hope you’ll join us for the reception!
Saturday, July 29: 6:00-8:00 opening reception of Common Ground, a group exhibition featuring work from the Hattiesburg Women’s Art Collective and South Mississippi Art League at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center, 723 N Main St, Hattiesburg, MS 39401. It’s been an honor to be a member of the 12 person SMAL, and many thanks go out to artist extraordinaire Paulette Dove for coordinating our traveling shows and hauling work all over the South!.
